Research Interest
Claire Durand is a full professor in the Department of Sociology at the Université de Montréal. After a career in the field of surveys, then a PhD in occupational psychology, she focused her research on quantitative methods and survey methodology, including electoral polls. She analyzed surveys conducted during major election campaigns in Quebec, Canada, France, the United States and the United Kingdom. She also examined the evolution of support for Quebec sovereignty and its determinants and compared Quebec and Scotland in this regard. Since 1998, she has also conducted four studies on the working conditions of university professors. His recent research has also focused on the errors of polls and the role of polls in society. It has recently started new research on socio-economic inequalities, particularly related to Aboriginal people.
