Research Interest
Gagnon Gabriel is mainly interested in social movements, cooperatives and self-management in Senegal, Tunisia, Cuba and Quebec. As part of the work of BAEQ (1963-1966), I followed the process of regionalization in Eastern Quebec. Subsequently, I participated in the Quebec Institute for Research on Culture, an important research on "emancipatory practices in popular areas" which has led to several publications. Over the years, I have taught several courses in sociological epistemology and cultural theory. Since 1974, I am one of the main animators of the department's second magazine, Possibles, and the Marcel Rioux symposia, devoted mainly to exploring the various ways to build a new Quebec social imaginary.
