Grondin, David is an Associate Professor, Regular Researcher, International Center for Comparative Criminology (CICC), University of Montreal - Researcher, Center for Studies and International Research (CÉRIUM), University of Montreal - Director of the Research Axis Mobility Management: Security and Insecurity Issues Center for Research on Immigration, Ethnicity and Citizenship (CRIEC), UQAM.
Research Interest
In my work, I mobilize both communications and media studies, including work on popular culture, cultural industries and cultural studies, as well as mobility and surveillance issues, with a focus on the manifestations of power over communications as on their effects. Since international communication, media cultures, political communication, popular culture, cultural studies and new media constitute my main research expertise in media studies and communication, I am well served in this work. by an interdisciplinary opening and an undisciplined perspective that draws on the fields of international relations, geography and political anthropology, Areas of expertise International Communication, Media Studies and Globalization Mobilities, infrastructures, media-technologies Surveillance studies Governmentality through algorithms (security and risk management technologies) Digital culture (digital media, new media) Cultural studies Mediation and representation of the war Popular culture (cinema and television) Political Communication History of the media American Studies
