Research Interest
Irena Latek has been managing the medialabAU research-creation laboratory since its founding in 2001. The medialabAU's work, presented in the form of videos and installations, seeks to see and understand the changes in the contemporary city by questioning digital design and figuration in architecture. They are particularly interested in the cultural and political dimension of public space. Making movement the first level of project thinking, medialabAU seeks to construct the meaning of space using tools considered unconventional for the discipline of architecture, trying to expand the territory of the project and enrich the palette of its resources. Irena Latek is also a founding member of the iACT (Arts Cultures and Technologies Institute) created in 2008 at the University of Montreal and directed from 1997 to 2000 the Institute of Research in History.
