Biography

Isabelle Thomas is a  Full Professor,    Responsible for inter-university agreements and student exchange programs Associate Researcher, Ivanhoe Cambridge Observatory for Urban and Real Estate Development Member of the Laboratory Space, Nature and Culture, Paris 4-Sorbonne Member of the City-Region-World network Member of the Montreal Interuniversity Group "Cities and Development" Member of the Center for Development of International Research and Environment Member of the i-Rec network, information and research for reconstruction Member of the French Association for the Prevention of Natural Disasters (AFPCN) Member of the Canadian Network for Hazard and Hazard Studies (CRHNet).   Education:    URB 6774 Risks, Planning and Urban Issues URB 6754 The formation of urban space URB 6771 Sustainable urban development, within the framework of the programs of the Interuniversity Group of Montreal "Cities and Development", subsidized by CIDA Courses and workshops on urban vulnerability and risk prevention: Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras, Maestría en gestión social urbana (since 2008) Teaching in several universities before joining the University of Montreal in 2007: University of Louisville (Kentucky), Texas Southern University (Texas), Virginia Tech (Virginia) and University of New Orleans (Louisiana).   Areas of expertise are  Climatic changes Local and regional development Environment and Sustainable Development Geographic information system Urban vulnerability.

Research Interest

Isabelle Thomas specializes in issues of sustainable development, urban vulnerability and regional development. His research also focuses on smart urban growth with an international perspective, and the use of geographic information systems to promote sustainable development.
