Biography
McLauchlin Theodore is an Assistant Professor Deputy Director, Center for Peace and International Security Studies at University of Montreal, Department of Political Science, Canada.
Research Interest
McLauchlin Theodore is a researcher in the field of security and international and internal wars. In particular, I am interested in the organization and political life of military forces, both state and non-state. I try to answer questions such as: How do some armed forces maintain cohesion during wars, which sometimes endure and still pose many challenges? Why do officers and soldiers take part for one side or the other during an internal conflict? What do the leaders of an armed group face in the face of the possibility of disobedience and desertion, and how do the soldiers react to these efforts of their commanders? My research is both micro, with a study of the fighters of the Spanish Civil War, and at the same time macro, Areas of expertise: International Security & Military institutions.
