Research Interest
Her research is in the field of comparative politics. They deal with the processes of democratization and the construction of citizenship, and more particularly with participatory democracy in Latin America. Over the past twenty years, the region has experienced a major wave of institutional reforms that are part of a process of deepening the quality of democracies and aiming at 'reinventing' governance, including formally the so-called 'ordinary' citizens. the heart of the political decision-making process, especially at the local level. My recent work shows, in particular, the importance of the nature of participatory institutions for democratic development, but also of the political and social actors who activate and relate to them, their strategies and their interactions. My current research follows three main axes: 1) the role of institutionalized participation in the development of citizenship and local communities, 2) the role of deliberation in divided societies, and 3) the notion of autonomy of actors in participatory contexts.
