Research Interest
The main orientations of my research work concern the study of the evolution of the mortality, especially at the old ages, the valorization of the modal age (ie the most frequent) at death as an indicator of the human lifespan in this era of increased longevity, and the analysis of phenomena of convergences and divergences of mortality and its causes. I also have a keen interest in monitoring the demographic situation to describe the state of the population and its movement with a more or less historical decline. In addition, I am coordinator of the Canadian Longevity Database (BDLC, www.bdlc.umontreal.ca ), data specialist for Canada of the Human Mortality Database (HMD, www.mortality.org ) and data for England-Wales from the Human Cause-of-Death Database (HCD, www.causesofdeath.org ). The BDLC, HMD and HCD projects are in the spirit of developing and sharing tools and databases with researchers in the scientific community, journalists, policy makers, etc. which I adhere without reservation.
