Biography

Robert Kasisi is a Canadian Representative (2014-2018) to the IPBES Capacity Building Task Force (Intergovernmental Platform on Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services under the auspices of the UN). Member of the IUCN Commission on Ecosystem Management (CEM) International Union for the Conservation of Nature (Gland, Switzerland). Associate Researcher at the Center for the Science of Biodiversity of Quebec (CSBQ). Scientific Advisor of the Center for the Development of International Research in Environment (CEDRIE) affiliated with the CERIUM of the University of Montreal. Member of the Management Committee and Associate Researcher at the Chair in Landscape and Environment of the University of Montreal (CPEUM). Honorary member of RAPAC (Network of Protected Areas of Central Africa). Member of the Board of Trustees of Tayna Center for Biological Conservation (TCCB) and Kasugho Nature Conservation University (DR Congo). Research Interest

Robert Kasisi's research interests concern the management of natural resources and environments, as well as the management of protected areas. Through his research, he particularly explores approaches to participatory planning of development projects in developing countries, particularly in the case of ecotourism and projects to promote biodiversity. He is also interested in research methodologies and environmental and social assessment.
