Biography
Microbiologist and cell biologist by training, Dr. Lippé graduated in 1986 from the University of Montreal where he obtained a degree in biological sciences (microbiology option). He then continued his training in Dr. Frank Graham's lab at McMaster University with a Master's degree in Science (MSc) in 1989. His research project was the replication mode of one of the associated human viruses. with the cold named Adenovirus. This was followed by a doctorate (Ph.D.) from the University of British Columbia (1995) under the supervision of Dr. Wilfred Jefferies, where he studied the interactions of this same Adenovirus with the immune system (presentation antigenic in scientific jargon). He finally continued his training by post-doctoral studies in the laboratory of Dr. Marino Zerial (1995-2000), an expert in cell biology, especially in so-called intracellular transport. He has since been a professor in the Department of Pathology and Cell Biology, first as Associate Professor (2001-7) and since then as Associate Professor (2007-). As noted below, in addition to undergraduate and graduate education, Dr. Lippé is focused on understanding another human virus that afflicts most individuals, ie the virus that causes cold sores and many blindness. and rare infections of the brain. This virus, called herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1), is dormant in 90% of people and can be reactivated under a variety of conditions. first as Associate Professor (2001-7) and since then as Associate Professor (2007-).
