Biography
Tatjana Leblanc is an Associate Professor and headmistress and also Founder of the Research Group in Planning and Design (GRAD) Associate researcher at UdeM Chair in Landscape and Environment After studying in Germany (Kunsthochschule Berlin-Weissensee) and then in the United States (The Ohio State University), Tatjana Leblanc started her professional career in several internationally renowned design agencies: Fitch in the United States, Creative Plan, in France, and Design Central, in the United States. During her thirteen years of professional career, she has developed expertise in telecommunications, office furniture, street furniture, medical products and consumer products for clients such as Hill-ROM, Whirlpool, LG Electronics, Sears, France Telecom. , Gaz de France, Sansen, Kontron Instruments, Siemens, and others. Numerous research and design projects in multidisciplinary teams have allowed him to develop new approaches and design tools. Since 2003, Tatjana Leblanc has put her expertise to the benefit of teaching and research in design at the Faculty of Planning at the Université de Montréal. In 2009, she founded the consortium Leblanc + Turcotte + Spooner to participate in the Abribus design contest launched by the City of Montreal and the STM as part of the Réalisons Montréal program . The project she presented in 2010 won the competition, and three years later the first bus shelter with an interactive signage display manufactured by Quebecor for the Société de Transport appeared on the streets of Montreal. Research Interest
Tatjana Leblanc's research focuses on new design practices, the creative process, and innovation. She is particularly interested in technological progress, emerging issues and their impact on product design and living space. Its research and creation projects aim to identify innovative solutions to better meet the needs of users and stakeholders. They emphasize inclusive design, context of use and human factors encompassing the perceptual and experiential dimension. As a researcher, she collaborates with the DOMUS laboratory at the Université de Sherbrooke and with the Chair of the Université de Québec at Trois-Rivières on topics such as ICT and "smart" housing, design for a population aging, and the design of intuitive interfaces. Within the Chair of Landscape and Environment of the University of Montreal, Tatjana Leblanc participates in interdisciplinary research on the design and integration of technical equipment in urban areas in partnership with Hydro-Québec, the City of Montreal and the CQRDA.
