Research Interest
Van de Velde Cecile says that his work focuses on the fate of youth, the changes in the ages of life, and the evolution of relationships between generations . I am interested in these subjects in international comparison , in order to better identify the dimensions of our life paths that converge beyond the borders, and the way in which inequalities are recomposed. On these issues, I have written several articles, chapters and books, including " Becoming an Adult. Comparative Sociology of Youth in Europe "(2008), and" Sociology of the Ages of Life "(2015). In my various surveys, I am now trying to answer a fundamental question: what are the effects of the crisis and austerity policies on the conduct of our lives?and the inequalities that cross them? On this point, I am currently finalizing research on the "anger" of the 21st century and its social significance. My goal is, in particular, to better identify the new social and existential tensions that mark the pathways of the younger generations since the crisis, and their effects on the relationship to politics and citizenship. - Youth, ages of life, generations, inequalities - International comparisons - Mixed methods: statistics, interviews, ethnography
