Biography
Dr. Jonz is working as an Associate Professor in Department of Biology, at University of Ottawa, Canada. His research focuses on the morphology, neurophysiology, and development of sensory systems in vertebrates. He primarily uses the zebrafish (Danio rerio), goldfish (Carassius auratus) and larvae of the African clawed frog (Xenopus laevis) to address issues such as (i) the role of ion channels in O2 chemoreceptors, (ii) the morphology and neurochemistry of chemoreception, and (iii) the development of O2-sensing pathways. Experimental techniques used include: electrophysiology (primarily whole-cell patch clamp), confocal microscopy, immunohistochemistry and immunocytochemistry, and cell culture. He is the author of many articles published in several reputed journals.
