Biography
Dr. Mayer’s research is in gas-phase ion chemistry. We study the mechanisms, kinetics, thermodynamics and dynamics of the unimolecular reactions of small gas-phase ions. We use a combination of tandem mass spectrometry, collision-spectroscopy, photoelectron-photo ion coincidence spectroscopy (at a synchrotron in the UK) and high-level theory to explore the unique aspects of the chemistry of species related to atmospheric chemistry, combustion chemistry and the interstellar environment. We also have projects in environmental and polymer analytical chemistry.
