Biography
Dr. Barbara Reul's main area of interest is early music, in particular the Baroque period. She has published extensively on the life, compositions and work environment of the German Kapellmeister J.F. Fasch (1688-1758), a contemporary of Bach and Handel. In 2005, Dr. Reul received the “Fasch Prize” from the City of Zerbst; from 2008 to 2011, she served as the president of the International Fasch Society (www.fasch.net). She has also been the secretary-treasurer of the Pacific-Northwest Chapter of the American Musicological Society since 2001 and from 2014 to 2016 served on the editorial board of Organ Canada. Dr. Reul teaches a variety of music courses at Luther College. She has received an “Inspiring Teaching Award” from the University of Regina, and was mentioned as a “Popular Prof” in MacLean’s Magazine three years in a row.
