Biography
Gavin Simpson is Quantitative Environmental Scientist at the Institute of Environmental Change and Society (ICS) and holds Adjunct Professor positions in the Department of Biology, and the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of Regina. Gavin earned a BSc (Hons.) in Environmental Geography and a PhD in Geography from University College London, UK. He is a quantitative ecologist and paleoecologist with with over a decade of experience in research and consultancy.
Research Interest
Gavin's research interests include dynamical systems ecology and abrupt ecological change, climate change effects on arctic lakes, nitrogen pollution of remote oligotrophic lakes, and recovery of lakes from acidification and eutrophication. Gavin sits on the editorial board of the journal Scientific Data. He contributes to a number of open source software initiatives and has written or contributed to several packages for the R statistical software.
