Biography
Greg Koabel was born in Scarborough, Ontario, obtained his BA and MA at the University of Regina, and earned a PhD in Early Modern English History at Nottingham Trent University in 2014. His PhD research focused on gender and political authority in the early Stuart period. His research background includes the areas of political authority and legitimacy, as well as gender, in seventeenth century England. Currently Greg is working on converting his thesis into a book tentatively titled Gendering Early Stuart Politics: The Duke of Buckingham, Manhood, and Political Authority. His current research examines the language of gesture and the presentation of self in forming political identities in early Stuart England, with a particular focus on setting, dress, and personal carriage in the 1641 treason trial of the Earl of Strafford. His current teaching focus is on contemporary Europe and the European Union.
