Biography
Troni Grande is interested in early modern drama (especially Marlowe and Shakespeare); 18th-century drama; the 18th-century novel; literary theory (especially feminist criticism and genre studies); and editing. She has published Marlovian Tragedy: The Play of Dilation (Associated University Presses, 1999). She held a SSHRCC postdoctoral fellowship from 1991-93 for woron on "she-tragedy," and her ongoing research project is a book on the changing literal and cultural representations of women in male-authored drama from the 16th through the 18th centuries, entitled The Tragic Subjection of Woman: She-Tragedy from Marlowe to Rowe. She is currently completing an edition (with Garry Sherbert) of Northrop Frye's writings on Shakespeare and the Renaissance, for the University of Toronto series The Collected Works of Northrop Frye. She has also co-authored an article (with Garry Sherbert and poet Norm Sacuta) on Derek Jarman's Edward II in Textual Studies in Canada.
