Biography
Abdullah Mamun earned his Bachelor and Masters Degree in Economics from University of Dhaka, Bangledesh. He finished his M.A. in Economics from University of Western Ontario and Ph.D. in Financial Economics from the University of New Orleans. He taught finance at the University of New Orleans and at Massey University before moving to the University of Saskatchewan where he is an Associate Professor of Finance at the Edwards School of Business. Professor Mamun's teaching interests are financial institutions and investments at both undergraduate and graduate levels. He has taught courses in banking, corporate finance, and investments at the undergraduate level; and corporate finance and investments at the graduate level including MBA and M.Sc. programs. Professor Mamun is actively involved with graduate supervision. He had supervised one Ph.D. thesis and more than a dozen M.Sc. theses. Since coming to Edwards School he has supervised three M.Sc. theses and is currently supervising another three M.Sc. students. His students have worked on different areas of financial economics. His current students are working in areas such as banking risk management, non-traditional banking activity, financial markets and M&A. Professor Mamun has a very wide research interest. His current research projects involve monetary policy and banking, bank risk management, financial economics, M&A etc. He research has appeared in the area of banking, corporate finance, financial economics and investments. His research has appeared in Journal of Business Finance and Accounting, Review of Financial Economics, Journal of Policy Modeling, International Review of Finance, Applied Financial Economics, Applied Economics Letters and Journal of Economics and Finance. He is active in professional organizations; he has served on program committee of Eastern Finance Association, Southwestern Finance Association, and Academy of Financial Services.
