Biography
Darcy Allen – Born in Drumheller, AB and grew up in southern Alberta and BC’s lower mainland. Graduated from a small college in central Alberta with a BSc. in Biology; which stemmed from my love of the great outdoors and its inhabitants. I graduated from the U of S College of Dentistry in 2004 and owned my own practice in Okotoks, AB. In 2008 a hockey related accident provided me the opportunity to experience unreasonable wait times in the quest for back surgery. Being unable to continue in private practice has allowed me to return to the U of S and teach pre-clinical dentistry. I have been married for 20 years to my best friend (Maralee – aka ‘the boss’) and we have 1 daughter (Emily) who is enjoying Grade 3, ballet, tap dance, piano lessons and wants her own personal dragon. When not assisting students in the preclinical labs, I enjoy playing bass guitar, recovering from a 2nd back surgery and practicing mindfulness.
Research Interest
