Biography
Dr. Elisabeth (Liz) Snead completed her internship at the Mesa Veterinary Hospital in 2000 and her residency at the University of Prince Edward Island in 2003. Her teaching expertise is in the area of small animal nephrology and endocrinology. She is the director of the Feline Radioiodine Treatment Program for treating hyperthyroidism in cats. Dr. Snead is the WCVM's associate dean of research and graduate studies.
Research Interest
Her MSc research was in the area of canine diabetes mellitus. Areas of clinical research include feline infectious diseases, intraosseous bone marrow, access techniques in dogs and cats: feline obesity and diabetes mellitus, comparative prostatic disease in dogs and men using synchrotron imaging, arterial blood gas findings in obese dogs and techniques for measuring glomerular filtration rate in cats. As part of her sabbatical leave, Dr. Snead explored the use of radioisotopes as an alternative treatment for infectious diseases in dogs and cats. Dr. Snead is a current member of the U of S Prostate Research Group and the One Health Imaging Group.
