Biography
Dr. Joe Bracamonte graduated in 2000 from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Extremadura in Spain. He was awarded a one-year scholarship in equine surgery at the Freie University of Berlin. He then went on to complete a one-year internship at Equine Services Surgical Hospital in Kentucky and stayed on staff for an additional year. Next, he moved to the Ontario Veterinary College where he completed an internship, large animal surgical residency and DVSc degree. He is a Diplomate with both the American College of Veterinary Surgeons and the European College of Veterinary Surgeons. Dr. Bracamonte joined the University of Saskatchewan in 2008 and is now an associate professor in equine surgery at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine. His research focuses on adhesion formation in horses, anastomotic healing and biomarker identification for orthopedic infections.
Research Interest
Dr. Bracamonte's research interests are primarily focused on anastomotic healing, adhesions and equine laparoscopy.
