Biography
Dr. John P. Giesy is currently a professor and Canada Research Chair in Environmental Toxicology in the WCVM's Department of Veterinary Biomedical Sciences and the Toxicology Centre at the University of Saskatchewan. He is also Distinguished Professor Emeritus of Zoology at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan, where he was a professor for 26 years. He is also Chair Professor at Large of Biology and Chemistry at City University of Hong Kong and Concurrent Professor of Environmental Science at Nanjing University, China.
Research Interest
Toxicity and reproductive effects of herbicides, chlorinated dioxins, and perfluorinated compounds in fish and fish-eating mammals. Fate and effects of PAHs, pesticides, and halogenated and perflourinated compounds in the environment. Effects of endocrine modulating compounds in fish and wildlife. Development and application of analytical and bioanalytical techniques to environmental issues. Ecological risk assessment of industrial and agricultural chemicals.
