Biography

"Dr. Lisa R. Feldman is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil & Geological Engineering at the University of Saskatchewan and Director of the Saskatchewan Centre for Masonry Design. She obtained her B.A.Sc. from the University of Waterloo in 1992, her M.S. from the University of Texas at Austin in 1993, and her Ph.D. from the University of Western Ontario in 2006. Dr. Feldman is a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute and the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering. Dr. Feldman has nine years of engineering consulting experience in addition to her academic work. Notable projects that she worked on include: the Confederation Bridge, the rehabilitation of Calgary’s Centre Street Bridge, and the restoration of Calgary’s Old City Hall. Dr. Feldman’s research interests include: the mechanics and behavior of reinforced concrete and masonry members, the evaluation and rehabilitation of existing structures, life-cycle engineering, and code calibration. Results of her research work have led to changes in both CAN/CSA S304-14 – Design of Masonry Structures and the fib Model Code for Concrete Structures. Dr. Feldman serves on several national and international code committees including: the Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code, ACI 318 Building Code, and the fib Model Code. She actively serves on several ACI board and technical committees and has been active in the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering at both the local level, as past chair of the Calgary section, and at the national level, most recently as National Lecture Tour Coordinator."

Research Interest

 Dr. Feldman’s research interests include: the mechanics and behavior of reinforced concrete and masonry members, the evaluation and rehabilitation of existing structures, life-cycle engineering, and code calibration.
