Dallaire Frédéric

Regular Professor
Department of Pediatrics / Pediatric Cardiology Department
University of Sherbrooke
Canada

Biography

Professor Dallaire holds a double training in epidemiology and pediatric cardiology. He is involved in several research projects on reference values, Fallot's tetralogy and echocardiography, in particular with teams from CHU Sainte-Justine, the Montreal Children's Hospital, the CHUL mother-child center and Of the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto.

Research Interest

Professor Dallaire is working to highlight early markers of heart failure in order to promote an optimal and personalized management of children and adolescents born with the tetralogy of Fallot. Fallot's tetralogy is the most common severe cardiac malformation in children. The first part of the research program is to set up a large register of patients with Fallot's tetralogy. Ultimately, this registry will contain a significant amount of clinical and administrative information on the fate of these patients. The registry will identify risk factors for complications (arrhythmias, frequent hospitalizations, mortality) that will help to better personalize the medical and surgical treatment of patients. The second component is to better define the baseline values of current cardiovascular screening tests in children: echocardiography, magnetic resonance and stress testing. In particular, the research team is working to determine whether exercise adaptation measures can help predict heart failure in children.
