Biography
Dr. Asim Alam is an anesthesiologist and transfusion medicine specialist who completed his medical training from the University of Toronto. He completed a Transfusion Medicine Fellowship (Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathobiology) and partial fellowship in paediatric anesthesia at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. In 2012, Dr. Alam joined the Department of Anesthesia at Sunnybrook Health Sciences where he is currently the Medical Director for the Perioperative Autologous Transfusion Program. He is actively involved in research in improving the quality of perioperative blood transfusion practices of many different patient groups, specifically amongst severely injured trauma patients and obstetrical patients.
