Biography
Professor Bancheri is the Chair of the Department of Italian Studies at the University of Toronto. He has published on textual criticism, Boccaccio, religious drama, Eighteenth -Century literature, theatre: theory and performance, Sicilian literature, Italian -Canadian studies, second - language acquisition and media technology dedicated to the teaching of Italian. He has developed Instructional software for Language Teaching. He has co -authored many Italian language textbooks with some of the most prestigious publishing houses in North America. He is the Director of the Frank Iacobucci Centre for Italian Canadian Studies, and the Editor of Italian Canadiana from 2004 to present. He has created the Digital Archives of the Iacobucci Centre and the The G.P. Clivio Online Dictionary of Italiese . Prof. Bancheri is currently the Secretary/Treasurer of the American Association of Italian Studies (AATI), for which he has created the AATI digital archive. In 2007 his course ITA 312/313Y Italian Theatre: Text and Performance was nominated for inclusion in the College Board AP World Languages Best Practices Study in Italian Language and Culture).
