Research Interest
Dr. Mascall's research interests focus on leadership and change, in organizations engaged in elementary and secondary schooling. He has a master’s degree in economics from the University of London, England, and has worked as a management consultant in Europe and North America. His research examines the processes one can use to help guide and monitor the implementation of a variety of changes, and the work that leaders can do to help develop people and their organizations during a time of change. He has recently completed work on a national study of educational leadership in the United States, developing an empirical link between what educational leaders do and how children succeed. Other projects have involved work in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. His Canadian research has focused on developing evidence about the outcomes associated with distributed leadership in Ontario schools, as well as a recently-completed policy implementation study on the Ontario Primary Class Size policy.
