Christine Shaw

Biography

Christine Shaw teaches undergraduate curatorial studies courses in the Art & Art History program at the University of Toronto, Mississauga as well as in the Visual Studies program the Daniels Faculty. She previously taught in the Visual Culture & Communication (VCC) Specialist program and CCIT at UTM; at OCAD University in the Visual Culture program; at York University in Fine Arts Cultural Studies; and at the University of Regina in the Department of Art History. Professor Shaw serves as the Director/Curator of the Blackwood Gallery where she has curated numerous exhibitions, projects, and events. She was selected as curator for the 2015 edition of Toronto’s Nuit Blanche presenting the project The Work of Wind featuring 13 major commissions. Professor Shaw’s practice is committed to curatorial experimentation, collective cognition, applied philosophical inquiry, and social resilience. She has been active in collectively run autonomous education and curatorial projects, including the Toronto School of Creativity & Inquiry (2005-2010), and, currently, Letters & Handshakes.
