Biography

Daehyun Kim is an Assistant Professor of Accounting at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto. Professor Kim’s broad research interest is corporate governance, with a specific focus on topics such as board of directors and shareholder control. His research has been published in the American Economic Review. His work has garnered considerable attention from the public as well as international media. He received his Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Texas at Austin and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to entering academia, Professor Kim accumulated accounting and finance industry experience in various roles. He worked as a budget analyst at American Airlines, preparing operating and capital budget for the airline’s airport operations. Prior to that, he worked as a debt capital markets analyst at Barclays Capital, facilitating companies to issue corporate bonds. He also worked at Lehman Brothers as a credit risk management research analyst. Additionally, as an undergraduate student, he worked as a summer intern at Banc of America Securities in syndicated loan origination and at a boutique investment bank specializing in mergers and acquisitions.
