Biography

Danielle Szandtner, B.A. English (McGill) 1990, M.A. Canadian Studies (Carleton) 1991, Joint L.L.B. - M.S.W. (Toronto) 1996 is in-house counsel with the Children's Aid Society of Toronto. Prior to this position, she worked as a litigation associate with the law firm of Goodman and Carr in Toronto. She worked in the areas of civil sexual assault law and family law with Goodman and Carr for seven years after her graduation from the University of Toronto. Her family law practice involved both negotiated settlements and litigation. Her civil sexual assault work was on behalf of individual plaintiffs who sued institutional defendants such as school boards, church authorities, Provincial and Federal Governments and Children's Aid Societies for the sexually abusive actions of their employees. A related area of specialization in her private practice was in sexual assault claims against institutional defendants on behalf of First Nations clients.
