Biography
Daniel Elam specialises in theories of World Literature, with a specific focus on twentieth-century South Asian literature and political writing. He is especially interested in anticolonial, diasporic and postcolonial theory; the origins of 'World Literature' and comparative literature; as well as Global Literatures in English. He is currently working on a book project about anticolonial theories of hermeneutics and aesthetics, focusing on figures like Dhan Gopal Mukerji, Lala Har Dayal, B.R. Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh, and M.K. Gandhi. His work connects South Asian thinkers to North American thinkers, and therefore offers an alternate route of intellectual and literary thought across the North Atlantic world.
