Biography
As an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto, Elise Shelley teaches studio design and site technology courses in both the Architecture and Landscape Architecture programs. As a practitioner in architecture and landscape architecture in Toronto, Shelley’s projects and research focus on the interdisciplinary nature of urban public space. She received a Bachelors of Science in Architecture with a Minor in Urban Planning from the University of Virginia in 1994 and Masters of Architecture and Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia in 1997. Shelley has received recognition for her work on several international design competitions including Stratford Ontario’s Market Square (with James Roche), the Grand Egyptian Museum (with James Roche and VanTine/Guthrie Architects, Detroit, MI), and Case Study Cleveland (with Ply Architect, Ann Arbor, MI). These projects have been published and exhibited internationally. Shelley came to Toronto from the University of Michigan’s College of Architecture and Urban Planning and her interdisciplinary experience includes practice with PLANT Architect in Toronto, ON and Office dA in Boston, MA.
