Biography

Garry D. Watson, LL.B. (Melbourne); LL.M. (Yale) is an Emeritus Professor at the Osgoode Hall Law School of York University, Toronto and has been a visiting professor at various universities including the University of Southern California, University of Toronto and Duke University Law Schools. He taught Class Actions at Osgoode for eight years. He has also taught seminars in Comparative Class Actions at Haifa University Law School, University of Sydney Law School, Monash University Law School (Prato, Italy, campus) and University of Melbourne Law School. He served as a member of the Class Proceedings Committee from 1997 to 2000. He was in private practice for two years in the mid 80s and he was the full time Director of Professional Development at Blake, Cassels & Graydon, Toronto from 1991-93 and subsequently continued in that position part-time. He is also the co-author of several books on Canadian civil procedure: Watson & McGowan, Ontario Civil Practice, Holmested & Watson, Ontario Civil Procedure (6 volumes) and Watson, Bogart, Hutchinson, Mosher, Pinos and Walker, The Civil Litigation Process: Cases and Materials. He was Counsel to the Ontario Civil Procedure Revision Committee 1976 -- 1980 and he was a member of the Ontario Civil Rules Committee 1983 – 2005. Garry D. Watson, LL.B. (Melbourne); LL.M.
