Biography
Ph.D., English (University of Pennsylvania); M.Phil., Medieval and Renaissance Literature (Cambridge); A.B., English (Princeton) My research interests include late medieval English and Italian literature, reception of the Classics in the Middle Ages, poetry and poetics, vernacular translation, medieval astronomy, and questions of form and aesthetics. I am currently at work on a book project inspired by the challenges of locating literature within historical context. My book (still untitled) uses close formal analysis, manuscript study, and comparison with Italian textual culture to understand how Chaucer historicizes his own poetry. A second project, in its early stages, uses medieval astronomy to explore issues of perspective, perception, and creativity in late medieval poetry.
