Biography
Ashish Khisti received his BASc degree from the Engineering Science program at the University of Toronto in 2002 and his MASc and PhD degrees from the EECS department at MIT in 2004 and 2009 respectively. Between 2008-2009 he was a research scientist at Deutsche Telekom R&D Lab, California. He has been an assistant professor in the ECE department at the University of Toronto since 2009. His research work is primarily in the area of communication theory with a particular emphasis on applications to wireless physical-layer security and multimedia streaming. During his graduate studies Prof. Khisti was a recipient of the Harold L. Hazen Teaching Award from the EECS department at MIT, an NSERC PGS Award and the HP/MIT Alliance Fellowship. He is also a recipient of the Ontario Early Researcher Award and an Hewlett-Packard Innovation Research Program (HP-IRP) award. He is an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Communications (2012-2015) in the areas of information theory and physical layer security. Prof. Khisti was a co-organizor of a workshop on Physical Layer Secruity at the IEEE Globecom Conference (2011) and another workshop on Interactive Information Theory at the Banff National Research Station in 2012.
