Biography
Kimberly Main is a PhD candidate in the History department. Her research focuses on the Ursuline nuns of Quebec City, 1639-1780. Examining the nuns' devotional life (daily prayers, content of retreats and sermons, spiritual readings), their teaching and missionary endeavours, and their relations with colonial denizens, her dissertation seeks to establish how the nuns lived and wrote about the ideals of convent life in comparison with the realities of various competing colonial and ecclesiastical relationships.
