Biography
Joan A. Kitunen, FCPA, FCA, is an Associate Professor, Teaching Stream at the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and at the University of Toronto Mississauga. She is a member of CPA Canada and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Ontario. She designs, coordinates, and teaches taxation courses in various programs at the University. She has been the recipient of numerous teaching awards. As well, she received the CICA Award for Excellence in Income Tax Practice and Education for outstanding contribution to the Profession and the Canadian tax community. She co-founded and is Director of the CPA/Rotman Centre for Innovation in Accounting Education, a member of the CPA Ontario accreditation review team, and a member of the CPA InDepth Tax year 3 project review committee. Research Interest
She was involved in the development of curriculum and supporting materials for the taxation elective module in the CPA Professional Education Program. She was coordinator of the taxation segment of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario/ICAO School of Accountancy for 16 years, a member of the CICA Tax Courses Committee for 10 years, and a member of the CICA Tax Education Task Force for six years. Prior to joining the faculty at the University of Toronto, she was a tax partner at Deloitte.
