Kristin Beites

Biography

Kristin holds a Bachelor of Environmental Design from the University of Manitoba, and a Master of Architecture from the University of Toronto, graduating with numerous awards and distinction on the RAIC honour roll. She has gained work experience in architecture offices across Canada in Edmonton, Winnipeg and Toronto, and internationally in Bergen, Norway. Her interests are drawn largely from ideas of place, culture and identity and how those manifest themselves in design and architecture. Kristin is currently an Architect at Maclennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects (MJMA). Her project portfolio is mostly community-based buildings, exploring both environmental and social implications. Recent built projects include the UBC Aquatic Centre in Vancouver & the Goldring Center for High Performance Sport on the U of T campus. She is also co-founder of KRDW, a design collective that engages in both built projects and speculative research with regards to temporality, ephemerality and public space. Kristin has been teaching at the Daniels Faculty since 2013.
