Biography
Teresa Lobalsamo , Lecturer, received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto (U of T) in Italian Studies. She has worked as Italian language coordinator and instructor at several Ontario universities since 2002. In addi tion to having won awards as a Graduate student, she has also been recognized as the 2008 recipient of the Teaching Excellence Award for Teaching Assistants (UTM) and the 2007 recipient of the Italian Teaching Award (Department of Language Studies, UTM). H er main specializations are Italian Cinema and Italian Cinema Pedagogy. In both fields of study, Dr. Lobalsamo has delivered papers at several academic conferences and has been invited to speak at various universities. Her interests are also firmly grounde d in Teaching and Learning (T & L) as she has worked for the University of Toronto's Centre for Teaching Support and Innovation (CTSI - TATP) as Humanities Coordinator and led several T & L workshops for language instructors (both at the U of T and abroad) . Dr. Lobalsamo is dedicated to enhancing the students' undergraduate experience at UTM, both in and out of the classroom, as well as forging strong alliances between the community and the campus. As such, she has led, and will continue to lead, various co - and extra - curricular activities, such as facilitating internships, directing the award - winning UTM Italian play, and hosting film - viewing events on campus. Dr. Lobalsamo is presently working on releasing an Italian Film Studies workbook, geared specifica lly for use in an advanced Italian language course, as well as a didactic guide for instructors of beginner Italian.
