Biography
Dr. Maurice Blitz is an Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto. He is also the Division Head for Thoracic Surgery at St. Joseph's Health Centre. After completing his undergraduate and medical school at the University of British Columbia, he went to Edmonton where he completed his General Surgery residency as well as Master's Degree in Clinical Epidemiology. Following this he pursued his passion for Thoracic Surgery at the University of Calgary where he completed his fellowship training. He spent a year at the prestigious Swedish Medical Centre in Seattle Washington where he did further training in minimally invasive thoracic and esophageal surgery as well as major thoracic oncology. He then joined the team at St. Joseph's Health Centre in 2009 and was able to introduce advanced minimally invasive thoracic surgery to the team. Dr. Blitz has received numerous awards and commendations recognizing his clinical skills and dedication to education. He is currently the Director of the Surgical Foundations Lecture Series at the University of Toronto.
