Biography

Michael Rosenberg, AB (Harvard, PBK, high hons), M.Phil (Cambridge, distinction), JD (Toronto, hons), is called to the Bars of Ontario, and New York. After graduating from the Faculty of Law, Michael served as a law clerk to the Rt. Hon. Beverley McLachlin, Chief Justice of Canada. He is now a partner in the litigation group at McCarthy Tétrault, where his practice focuses on class actions. Michael represents both defendants and plaintiffs, and he has litigated class actions at all levels of court, including the Supreme Court of Canada. Michael is a member of the Law Commission of Ontario's advisory committee on class action reform, and he received the 2009 Harvey T. Strosberg Essay Prize for his writing in this field. Most recently, Michael co authored Class Actions in Canada, a leading teaching text, and Defending Class Actions in Canada, 4th ed., a widely consulted practical resource.
