Research Interest
Dr. Akbari’s research is focused on the study of genetic susceptibility to breast, ovarian, esophageal, pancreatic and prostate cancers. He looks for new genes responsible for these different hereditary cancers. Dr. Akbari is also interested in characterizing the role and impact that known cancer genes have on risk. He is working to develop evidence-based cancer treatments that are personalized to patients who carry a mutation.
