Biography
Dr. Bashash is a core member of the Toronto branch of the Environmental and Molecular Epidemiology Group (EMERG; http://temerg.utoronto.ca/), a multi-disciplinary and multi-national team of investigators created by Dr. Howard Hu in 1991 that has conducted large longitudinal and case-control studies of environmental risk factors and gene-environment interactions in relation to neurodevelopmental delays in children and chronic disease states in adults. EMERG has been continuously funded by grants from the U.S. National Institutes of Health since 1991. Through collaborations based at the University of Toronto, Harvard University and the University of Michigan, EMERG has primary oversight of or access to laboratories conducting high through-put genomics, epigenomics, metabolomics, and other chemistry and haematological panels; environmental exposure biomarkers; biostatistics and bioinformatics; and extensive biorepositories containing EMERG population samples.
