Biography
Neil Guthrie, BA (Hon) (Toronto) 1985, LLB (Toronto) 1995, DPhil (Oxford) 1990, FSA Scot, FSA, called to the Bar of Ontario in 1997. Neil is Director of Professional Development, Research and Knowledge Management at Aird & Berlis LLP. His experience includes continuing legal education, student training, conducting and supervising legal research on a wide range matters from all areas of practice, writing and editorial support, and knowledge management. He has published The Material Culture of the Jacobites (Cambridge, 2014), as well as numerous articles, case comments and reviews. His second book, Guthrie’s Guide to Better Legal Writing, will be published by Irwin Law, probably in 2018. Neil was previously a research lawyer in private practice and senior counsel in the General Counsel's Office at the Ontario Securities Commission. He developed the curriculum in legal research and writing for the Law Practice Programme at Ryerson University.
