The research areas being pursued by Dr Shek in support of military medicine include: Damage-control resuscitation of front-line military casualties; Hypertonic fluid replacement for modulating immunoinflammatory responses; Rapid diagnosis and prognosis of severe hemmorhagic status; Neural biomarkers for objective assessment of PTSD and mild traumatic brain injury
