Biography

M. Paul Michell, B.A. (McGill) 1990, LL.B. (Toronto) 1994, B.C.L. (Oxford) 1995, Ontario Bar 1997, is a partner at Lax O’Sullivan Lisus Gottlieb LLP. His practice focuses on complex commercial arbitration and litigation, appeals and judicial review in the Ontario and Federal courts, the Supreme Court of Canada, and before a variety of administrative and arbitral tribunals. He was law clerk to Mr. Justice Charles Gonthier, Supreme Court of Canada. His articles have been cited by the Supreme Court of Canada, High Court of Australia, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia. He has been appointed as an arbitrator, is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, a co-chair of the University of Toronto Tribunal, and has served as a presiding officer under the Competition Act.
