Biography
Dr. Manninen graduated from the University of Toronto medical school and completed a residency in anesthesia at the University of Western Ontario, London, Ontario. She then worked for ten years at the University Hospital in London, Ontario with clinical and academic interests in neuroanesthesia. At present, Dr. Manninen holds the position of consultant anesthesiologist and was previously the director of neuroanesthesia at Toronto Western Hospital (1993 to 2010). She is currently an associate professor at the University of Toronto. Dr. Manninen is a founding member of the neuroanesthesia section of the Canadian Anesthesia Society and actively involved in the Canadian Anesthesia Society as well as the Society of Neurosurgical Anesthesia and Critical Care. Her current research interests include clinical neuroanesthesia with emphasis on neuromonitoring, awake craniotomy, epilepsy and cerebrovascular surgery. She is also interested in teaching neuroanesthesia in many developed and underdeveloped countries.
