Research Interest
His areas of interest for both teaching and research are pricing, economic models, retailing and marketing science. Dewan is the lead author of the book, Marketing: What is it Good For?, [Revised Second printing, July 2006, Copley Custom Textbooks, ISBN: 1-58152-410-2] as well as the writer of several papers at proceedings, conferences and journals. "Marketing is a very exciting field – it being the main revenue-generating activity for a firm," says Dewan. "As a discipline, marketing is inspired by both economics and the behavioural sciences, and although my research is more economics-based, pedagogically I like to present ideas from both disciplines." He notes that everyone has some marketing experience because we are all consumers, and "I like to link concepts with examples from real life." He describes his teaching style as interactive. "My classes generally have lots of lively discussions," he notes.
