Biography
Dr. David Hammond is a professor in the School of Public Health, University of Waterloo, University Avenue West, Waterloo, ON, Canada.
Research Interest
Dr. David Hammond research focuses on chronic disease prevention and global health in the areas of tobacco control policy, health diets and obesity prevention, as well as harm reduction and drug policy. I work closely with governments around the world and have served as an Advisor for the World Health Organization. I also serve as an Expert Witness in court cases, primarily on behalf of governments defending health regulations from legal challenges by the food and tobacco industries. My research has been recognized by awards from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Canadian Cancer Society, the Canadian Medical Association, the Royal Statistical Society of Canada, and the World Health Organization.
